Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) touches everyone—from combat Veterans and active military to everyday people, including children who have survived accidents, disasters, sudden loss, or abuse. On the outside, this person might look perfectly fine. Inside, they may be fighting an exhausting battle with flashbacks, emotional numbness, and constant alertness. Because these psychological wounds are often hidden, supporting a survivor requires deep empathy and trauma-informed care.
