Thank You, Providers, For Taking Care of Our Nation’s Heroes

On March 30 of each year, people all over the U.S. celebrate National Doctors Day. This day is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the role doctors play in caring for the sick, advancing medical knowledge and promoting good health for you, your loved ones and your community. Doctors who care for Veterans deserve our thanks each and every day for the difference they are making. More than 14,000 doctors are on staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care facilities, helping to restore or maintain physical and mental health by caring for those who sacrificed for all Americans.

Managing Health Care for Veterans

The Veterans Health Administration provides health care for Veterans at more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states. In addition, the Community Care Network (CCN)—a network of community-based health care professionals—is available to supplement care to help make sure Veterans receive timely, high-quality care.

“TriWest is so pleased to partner with VA to help fulfill vital health care needs for America’s Veterans—such a deserving group of people.”  —Jim Griffith, TriWest Chief Network and Administrative Officer

TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest) has the privilege of serving Veterans as VA’s partner in administering CCN in Regions 4 and 5. TriWest is responsible for building and maintaining the CCN network of community providers, paying claims and providing customer service. “TriWest is so pleased to partner with VA to help fulfill vital health care needs for America’s Veterans—such a deserving group of people,” Jim Griffith, TriWest chief network and administrative officer said.

“Of course, we’re beyond grateful to the amazing health care professionals in our network—240,000 unique CCN providers who see patients out of over 550,000 locations—who feel like we do. They’ve stepped up and committed to caring for our nation’s heroes. In the last month alone there have been almost 180,000 appointments scheduled. Without the help of our network providers,” Jim explains, “Veterans wouldn’t have those community access points for their care. All of us at TriWest think that National Doctors Day really takes place 365 days a year. Providers make a difference every day.”

Veterans Give Thanks

When asked about their health care experiences, Veterans express deep gratitude for their caring providers who help them face health challenges and show their understanding of what they go through. Many Veterans credit VA providers with saving their life. Doctors who care for Veterans are honoring them and the service they provided to our country. On behalf of a grateful nation, we send a heartfelt “thank you” to all of the devoted doctors helping to make the lives of Veterans better every day.
